Dear friends and colleagues,
Please be advised of the following job opportunities in our Department.
With best wishes,
Maarten Hajer

Universiteit van Amsterdam
The University of Amsterdam (UvA) is a university with an internationally acclaimed profile, located at the heart of the Dutch capital. As well as a world center for business and research, Amsterdam is a hub of cultural and media activities. The University of Amsterdam is a member of the League of European Research Universities. The Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FMG) is the largest educational and research institution in its field in the Netherlands. The Faculty provides education for some 7500 students in a range of Bachelor and Master programmes, organised in six educational institutes. The teaching activities of the academic staff are in addition to their contribution to broad research programmes based in one of the Faculty's seven research institutes. The Faculty employs over 1100 staff in support of teaching and research activities of its scholars. The Faculty encourages the international exchange of knowledge and, hence, staff and student mobility. It is housed in several buildings in the historic centre of Amsterdam, on the Roeterseiland complex and on the Prins Hendrikkade.

The Department of Political Science is the largest political science department in the Netherlands. As a unit of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences of the UvA the Department is responsible for academic staff who engage in teaching and research activities in Political Science. The Department's research activities are organised in the context of research institutes, in this case the Amsterdam School for Social Science Research (ASSR). Teaching programmes are organised through the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Education (Dutch acronym 'AIM') and the new Graduate School of the Social Sciences. Research and educational institutes are autonomous and have their own admission and performance standards.

The Political Science degree programmes offer specialisation in four sub-fields: Administration and Policy Studies, European Union in a Global Order, International Relations, and Political Behaviour & Political Theory. The assistant professors should reinforce the broad profile of Political Science in Amsterdam.
