The Open University Business School has a number of post-graduate research studentships available for students interested in researching various aspects of public sector management. Full-time Postgraduate Research Degree Studentships in 

Public & Non-profit Management

(closing date for applications: 30 April 2007)

 

 

 

 

The Open University Business School is offering a number of research studentships (currently £13,300) from October 2007, based at the Milton Keynes Campus.

 

Applications are invited from candidates wishing to study for a full-time MRes in Management and Business Research or a PhD in Management.

 

The MRes provides advanced level research methods training and is recognised by the Economic and Social Research Council.

 

MRes applicants should have, or expect, a good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject and should submit a short proposal for their dissertation project.

 

PhD applicants should have similar qualifications and, preferably, a Masters degree and will only be considered for direct entry onto the programme if they have had demonstrable training (equivalent to an MSc) in research methods.

 

Applications are welcome for research on all aspects of public and non-profit management, but particularly in the following areas:

 

·        Inter-organisational collaboration and partnership working;

·        Organisational governance and the role of boards;

·        Performance measurement and management, including organisational failure and turnaround;

·        Evidence based policy and practice

·        Social enterprise and economic development;

·        Corporate social responsibility;

·        Strategic learning initiatives in the public sector;

·        Managing regional strategies.
