Two Faculty Positions
The Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of
Washington at Seattle seeks nominations and applications for two
full-time tenure track faculty positions at the rank of assistant or
associate professor with appointments to begin September 16, 2007. The
Evans School is an accredited comprehensive School of Public Affairs
with an outstanding faculty and recognized strengths in teaching,
research and service. The University of Washington is consistently
ranked among the top research universities in the world.
We have defined the positions broadly to encompass candidates with
interests in public policy analysis and management. We are open as to
discipline, research and methodological focus and encourage
individuals from political science, public administration, public
policy, economics, sociology, organizational theory, and psychology to
apply. Strong expertise in policy analytic and/or management methods
is expected. Substantive areas of policy and management are open.
The Evans School has recognized strengths in environmental and natural
resources, international affairs and development, poverty, nonprofit
organizations, public-private partnerships, education policy, and
leadership, as well as in policy and analytic methods. Other
opportunities flow from the University of Washington's strategic
vision that encourages innovation and global perspectives in the
challenging areas of health care, environmental stewardship,
education, and technology.
The successful candidates will demonstrate the potential or proven
ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment that demands
excellence in scholarship and teaching, and encourages engagement in
important societal problems. Teaching and advising responsibilities
will support our innovative and nationally recognized MPA degree
programs and the School's new Ph.D. Program in Public Policy and
Management. The School is actively engaged in executive education
through the Executive MPA degree and the Cascade Center for Public
Service.
The tenure home for this position will be in the Evans School of
Public Affairs with joint appointments possible in other units. The
opportunity exists for participation in multidisciplinary policy
research centers including the Center for Reinventing Public
Education, The West Coast Poverty Center, the Marc Lindenberg Center
on Humanitarian Action, International Development, and Global
Citizenship, The Nancy Bell Evans Center on Nonprofits and
Philanthropy, the Center for Urban Simulation and Policy Analysis, the
Human Services Policy Center and the Water Center.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or other equivalent degree by the time of

The University of Texas Pan American's Master in Public Administration
Position Announcement
The University of Texas Pan American's Master in Public Administration
(MPA) is seeking a faculty member for the fall of 2006. The position
is tenure track at the assistant professor rank. A PhD in Public
Administration or closely related field such as Public Affairs, Public
Policy, Political Science, etc. or DPA is required. The candidates are
expected to contribute to the future development of the MPA program
and future NASPAA accreditation efforts. Teaching, scholarly research,
and service to the University, community, and profession are expected.
Areas of specialization are open, but expertise in two or more of the
following areas is preferred: health administration, budgeting and
finance, intergovernmental relations, management of nonprofit
organizations, international comparative administration, or public
finance. Interest in Latino politics/affairs, public policy of the
Southwest borderlands, and the ability to communicate effectively in
Spanish is desirable. Teaching load is two graduate classes each
semester.

The Political Science Department at the University of Maryland,
Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for a tenure-track
Assistant Professorship in public administration and policy and/or
state and local government beginning in August 2007. We are searching
for an excellent teacher, and a productive researcher who studies
important areas of public administration and policy or subnational
government. Our current course needs include introductory
undergraduate courses on public administration and state and local
government, an upper-level course on public management, a public
administration internship, and a policy research seminar. The
successful candidate will be capable of covering most of these
courses, and could also offer a graduate course for the Department of
Public Policy, which awards PhD and MPP degrees in Public Policy and
is NASPAA-accredited. The Ph.D. in political science, public
administration, or public policy is expected by the time of
appointment. UMBC is a young and innovative mid-sized
research-extensive university which highly values undergraduate
teaching and student mentoring. The suburban campus is located just
south of Baltimore and provides close proximity to research and public

School of Public Administration and Policy, Eller College of Management
The School of Public Administration and Policy, at the Eller College
of Management, The University of Arizona, is seeking applicants to
fill a vacant faculty position in the area of Public and Nonprofit
Management. The position will be for a tenure track,
Assistant/Associate Professor. Candidates with several years
experience are encouraged to apply. The department is seeking
individuals who are able to work with diverse students and colleagues,
and who have experience with a variety of teaching methods and

Duties and Responsibilities Faculty perform scholarly research,
publish in academic journals, teach in undergraduate and Master's
