Dear all,

Last year I attended the Summer School in Policy Analysis announced
below. It is great for PhD's working in the field of Interpretative
Policy Analysis, however also very valuable for PhD's still unknown with
the field, but would like to be introduced to it, or are coming from
other fields, but do research which is policy related. Another strong
point was the amount of attention you get for you own PhD research. The
nice surroundings and open atmosphere made it a good place for starting
PhD's as well....

Subscription is open until April 15,

All best

European Summer School in Policy Analysis (ESSPA).

Dear Colleague,

I want to bring to your attention this year's session of the European
Summer School in Policy Analysis (ESSPA). Last year ESSPA had a very
successful session with 23 strong PhD students from political science
and public policy departments from different EU member states, who were
selected from a large field of applicants. This year's session of ESSPA
will again take place from July 15 - July 28 in the beautiful
surroundings of the Renaissance town of Bertinoro, near Bologna. The
faculty consists of some of the most renowned scholars in the field of
policy studies, such as Deborah Stone, Frank Fischer, Wayne Parsons,
Benny Hjern and Andrea Lenschow. This year's program is organized around
two themes: the role of knowledge in the policy process (week 1) and
policy implementation (week 2). In addition to plenary seminars,
students are able to participate in small skills-oriented workshops. The
program again bears it signature mark of putting the candidates'
research work central, with intensive interaction between students and
staff. Last year students agreed that ESSPA admirably succeeded in its
goal of creating a community of junior and senior scholars in the field
of policy studies. Application deadline is April 15. For details of the
program, application procedure, location, and a student evaluation of
last year's session, see ESSPA's website: http://www.esspa.org/

ESSPA is supported by the European Consortium of Political; research and
by the EU-Socrates Programme.

Please bring this message to the attention of prospective candidates in
your university.
