   While Star has been given time to meet the equity guidelines for
uplinking rights from within the country for its Hindi news channel
since it is a foreign channel, the Rupert Murdoch-owned group is
understood to have obtained a letter of intent (LoI) for setting up a
direct-to-home (DTH) platform despite the rules stipulating a maximum
foreign equity of 49 per cent.
