Information and broadcasting minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that an
open mind was needed on foreign investment in the electronic media. He
said that now technology is such that it is possible to uplink a
satellite in the US or Singapore and send programmes to Indian viewers
directly. He added that it is better then to allow foreign direct
investment (FDI) here and encourage firms to uplink in the country,
under reasonable regulation.
