Indian corporates are looking on the World Cup as a big business 
opportunity. Official sponsor PepsiCo began its World Cup promotions, 
featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Fardeen Khan, as early as 
October 2002. Today, with the tournament barely a fortnight away, the 
market is flooded with lucrative offers such as A Free Ticket To The 
World Cup and heavy spending on advertisement and other promotional 
activities. Corporate India is expected to spend around Rs 2,000 crore 
on promotions and advertisements for this years World Cup as compared 
to the around Rs 1,600 crore spent in 1999.
