For the industry, which lost Rs 300 crore in 2002 alone, the multi-crore
question is: What ails Bollywood? Of the 226 movies released last year, 90
per cent bombed with only two, Raaz and Devdas managing to prove their
mettle at the box office. Weak scripts and high production costs, said a
cross-section of industry's people. "About 90 per cent of the industry's
misfortunes could be attributed to poor scripts," said film trade analyst
Komal Nahata.
