Very few FMCG players prefer to advertise in English, according to the
TV Ad Indx data. Data for the following week - between April 10 and
April 16 - once again reveals that of the 37 new TV commercials, 25 were
in Hindi. Analysts attributed this to two specific reasons. Said Mr
Nikhil Vora, Senior Vice-President, ASK Raymond James, "Television being
a mass medium, Hindi has always been the preferred language for FMCG
advertisers. The fact that FMCG majors have been facing heightened
competition from regional players in recent times is another reason."
