[icernet] HBO Moves To SET India, Spurns Zee-Turner Bouquet

   HBO has signed up with Sony Entertainment Television India to manage 
the advertising sales and distribution of its premier movie channel in 
India and Maldives, after moving away from the Zee-Turner bouquet.

The new arrangement, which will be effective January 1, 2003, is set to 
mark a major realignment in the channel distribution business. SET India 
is in advanced talks with MTV for a distribution deal, which will fill 
in the gap of a music channel in the bouquet. The absence of a news and 
a children channel will still be felt, but SET India chief executive 
officer Kunal Dasgupta said the company was in talks with Aaj Tak.
