[icernet] ASIAN, MIDDLE EASTERN JOURNALISTS RECEIVE LORENZO NATALI PRIZES

Asha Krishnakumar of India and Maher Chmaytelli of Lebanon
have both received top regional awards in the 2002 Lorenzo
Natali Prize, one of the world's leading awards for journalists,
the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) reported.

Krishnakumar and Chmaytelli joined other winners from Africa,
Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America at a special
ceremony in Belgium on November 15.  IFJ and the European
Commission awarded the prizes to recognize the journalists'
exceptional reporting on human rights, democracy, and
development.
