The Kerala Cabnet, on Wednesday, cleared a project for bridging the
digital divide by making at least one person in every family computer
literate. A member from each family will be given 15 hours of training
to enable them to use computers and access e-mail and Internet with
ease, the Chief Minister, A.K. Antony, told presspersons after the
Cabinet meeting.
The Chief Minister said the project would initially be taken up on a
pilot basis in Malappuram and Thiruvananthapuram districts. On
completion of the scheme, the number of Internet users would increase to
20 per cent of the population.
