India's media splashed the Hindu nationalist BJP's massive electoral
victory in assembly polls in riot-torn Gujarat state, crediting
caretaker chief minister Narendra Modi with the landslide. The surprise
result, in which the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) scored a two-thirds
majority with 126 seats in the 182 member assembly, dominated the front
pages of all major newspapers.
