[icernet] Safeguards taken in opening Indian dailies and periodicals

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sushma Swaraj today said
adequate safeguards had been taken in opening Indian Newspapers and
Periodicals to Foreign investors.  Annexing the guidelines in reply to a
written question, Swaraj said the safeguards included verification of
antecedents of the foreign investors, requirement of 3/4th of the
directors being resident Indians and keeping the editorial and
management control in the hands of resident Indian Nationals.
