Himachal Chief Minister P K Dhumal today lauded the role of the media as
"informer and educator" and a "watch dog of democracy" saying the
criticism in the media should be taken in the right perspective as it
provided an opportunity to take corrective measures.

Addressing the function, former Chief Minister V B Singh said
globalisation had posed new challenges for the Indian newspaper
industry. He lauded the role of the newspapers in the freedom struggle.
