  In the present scenario, media tend to create new material needs in 
the society to sell their products to consumers who are better off even 
without them, Editor of 'Dainik Bhaskar' Vashwant Vyas told a symposium 
on 'Media Techniques and Broadcasting' . Practising media persons must 
understand the inherent relationships between the controlling capital 
and the media's role in society, Vyas said. The role of mediapersons has 
become all the more important with advertisements occupying major space 
in today's media and only their commitment could be the saving grace, he 
added.
