Over 62% of all Indians can't use computers because they don't know
English. And despite a 20-year headstart, the Indian-language software
industry remains less than a drop in the Rs 62,000-cr Indian IT
industry. Bogged down by lack of standardization, the industry has been
overshadowed by the success of software exports. But the burgeoning
e-governance vertical and growing compliance to Unicode standards could
well turn the fortunes of this industry.
